Puppy Match

Please be as specific and detailed as you can with your Puppy Match!

You're looking for a Puppy. Let's continue..

AGE What ages are you specifically interested in? Please check all ages that apply.

Eight Week Old
We allow our puppies to go to their new homes at eight weeks of age. At eight weeks, our puppies are already eating dry food and are trained to potty on pine shavings. We offer to start with crate, leash, and obedience training for families that want to give their puppy a head start. Each puppy is born with their own unique personality; as they grow, their experiences shape their understanding of the world and consequently their behavior.
Sixteen Week Old
We hold on to the "best of the best" from every litter, so the puppies that are available at this age are exceptional both in conformation and temperament. Older puppies also gain better control of their bowels, making crate training so much easier. We try not to name our puppies for as long as possible, since most families prefer to come up with their own meaningful name.
Six Month Old
Puppies at this age have complete control of their bowels, and can handle much more physically and emotionally than a younger puppy can. Mentally, however, they are still very much babies. This age is perfect for families that want an impressionable young puppy but would prefer to skip the extra work of raising a puppy from the age of eight weeks.

I definitely want a male.

I would consider a female.
I don't want a female.

In General, Males..

  • Have thicker features.
  • Have more muscle mass.
  • Tend to have a care free demeanor.
  • Tend to seek their owner's approval often.
  • Play "rough and tumble".
  • Form a "brotherly bond" with other males.
  • Tend to be on a slightly different plane of existence than females.

In General, Females..

  • Have finer features.
  • Have less muscle mass.
  • Tend to have a practical demeanor.
  • Tend to be sure of themselves.
  • Play peacefully and gently.
  • Form a "clique" with other females.
  • Tend to be on a slightly different plane of existence than males.

* These are general guidelines based off of observations of our own Golden Retrievers. Exceptions to these guidelines happen all the time. Large, big boned females and petite, fine featured males are not unusual. The Golden Retriever is naturally a family dog and loves to be around people, regardless of gender. There are specific circumstances under which dogs of the same sex should not be paired together (i.e. dominant dogs).

In General, Europeans..

  • Treat your personal space with proper respect.
  • Are polite and able to maintain their composure.

  • Know when they've eaten enough and will leave any extra in the bowl.
  • Tend to have a more square, coarse, and blocky build.
  • Have a thick top coat (the straighter, harder, rougher follicles that shed all at once during the spring).
  •  Have a lighter (even white) coat color, black skin pigmentation, and gray bellies.
  • Are still prone to, but have a lower rate of, hip dysplasia and cancer.
  • Have a life expectancy of 15 years.

In General, Americans..

  • Want to be with you, near to you, and loved by you all of the time.
  • Are happy-go-lucky and love everyone they meet.
  • Live in the moment and eat/sleep/play any time, anywhere.
  • Can eat the whole bag of dog food and still look at you like they're hungry.
  • Tend to have more refined, elegant, and expressive features.
  • Have a thick under coat (the finer, softer, fluffier follicles that shed in clumps constantly throughout the year).
  • Have a golden (even red) coat color, dark skin pigmentation, and pink bellies.
  • Are prone to hip dysplasia and cancer, among other hereditary diseases that are known to affect the breed.
  • Have a life expectancy of 12 years.

* Most of our puppies are a cross between European and American lines, drawing on qualities from both sides. These differences are generalizations based on observations of our own Goldens. If you would like to find out more about the differences between European type and American type Goldens, please feel free to research! You're also welcome to email us and ask for a more in depth analysis of our personal experiences. If you begin to prefer one bloodline over the other after giving it some thought, just update us with your new preference so we can better pinpoint the ideal puppy for you.

AKC REGISTRATION Do you want to show and breed this puppy?

I want a Pet. I don't want to show or breed my puppy.
I am interested in Full Registration.

Showing and breeding can only be done under a Full AKC Registration. Full Registration on a puppy costs $1,000 - $2,000 more than the original price, and includes a guarantee to pass all clearances at two years of age. We will only sell specific puppies under a Full Registration, so your selection will be limited to the puppies that we consider worthy of being bred. We require additional screening and information for this and will only sell dogs under a Full Registration to appropriate situations approved by us. We offer Full Registration on a very limited basis.

Can you provide a Suitable Home?

What is your family environment like?

Do you live in a house or an apartment?

Do you have a fenced yard? Where will you exercise your puppy daily?

How many hours a day would you leave your puppy alone?

Keeping a close eye on a new puppy is important. They must be taken outside after they eat, play, and sleep. If you have a busy schedule and want a young puppy, you may want to look into puppy daycare near you. The biggest reason for families choosing older puppies and adolescents is because they just don't have the time and patience needed to raise a puppy!

Are there children in your household? If so, how old are they?

Golden Retrievers are known all over the world for their way with kids. They truly are the best family dog, and are amazing with children.

Have you owned a dog before? How about a Golden Retriever?

Do you have any other pets at home?

Fun Facts:
Our pups are raised around cats, pet birds, and other dogs of varying ages.
We let our adolescents and adults run in the pastures for fun- they love our horses and exotic chickens!

In what general area do you live?
